The classroom schedule is created by the classroom teacher, grade level teacher committee and the school administration. The school administrators will dictate when the school day begins, the time for specials, lunch and recess. Depending on the grade level teacher committee, some teachers will schedule their classes to work cooperatively with the other teachers. The teachers may teach departmentalized subjects or team teach, in these circumstances students may rotate between these teachers or exchange a small group of students for subjects that are differentiated for students at certain levels of learning and ability. These subject times will be decided upon between the set of teacher to meet their classroom needs and still work around the schools schedule. The classroom teacher will then work around these set time frames and create his/her own classroom schedule to meet the class's needs. It is more conducive for classroom learning to schedule subjects that require more academic focus at the first of the day when the students arrive and will be more engaged in subjects that may slower paced and require a higher cognitive focus. The classes that are more interactive will need to be near the end of the day when students become more restless. Like with many things in life these schedules may change in the year, especially when special activities are incorporated in the day.
